PT Has Started

I had my first physical therapy session yesterday - I'll be going twice a week for the next six weeks to try and get my right wrist to 80% of both flexibility and strength of my (good) left wrist.

The flexibility is a lot closer than the strength. Not sure of the scale, but I scored a 60 in strength with my good wrist, but only a 10 with the bad one.

I now have extra exercises to do and will be doing the paraffin bath (to get the wrist warm), exercises and the contrast bath at the end at the PT place twice a week.

My next session is tomorrow morning.

I wasn't sure whether or not the PT would hurt - thankfully it doesn't. You can feel the tightness during the stretching out, but that's it.

The therapist spent quite a while measuring all sorts of flexibility and strength parameters, so we should have a good baselines to measure progress against.

The Brace is Gone!

Well, sort of.

After a Doctor visit on Monday, I no longer have to wear the big wrist brace 24x7. I still have it for when I'm doing things where I might trip or otherwise endanger the arm as it'll be another 6 weeks before the bone is at maximum strength.

My idea of going snowboarding in a couple of week's time was met with a frosty reception, but wasn't totally vetoed (but came about as close as you can without totally vetoing it) - so I'm still on the fence. It's not the boarding that's the problem, it's the high potential of falling that's the problem!

My wrist movement wasn't as good as it needs to be to avoid physical therapy, so I start physical therapy tomorrow - reports will appear here in the near future.

Everything else is coming along well according to the x-rays etc. - next doctor trip is early in the new year, when hopefully the physical therapy will have given me the mobility back in my wrist.

First Time Flying

Just got back from a week's vacation in Hong Kong. First time through the airport metal detectors. I got through "clean" - wahoo!

Off to the Doc's tomorrow to see how everything's going.
