GoPro Video Experiment #1

Didn't quite go according to plan - as you can soon see, the helmet mounted cam was pointed too much towards the ground - so, here's a quick run through Partington Canyon (link now fixed).

Still, it was a learning experience and a whole lot of fun to make in the first place.

I got up at 6am to make sure I was down in the cool roads before the traffic got heavy, and I got lucky in that I hit no traffic in all four runs (one run per camera angle - although the snippet is about a minute long, the original videos are around ten minutes long each - if I'd have gotten the helmet cam angle correct in the first place, you'd be being a lot more bored by this video than you already are as it'd be around four minutes long!)

After the shooting, I went looking for condors (after all, this is prime condor territory) - and got lucky - see the shots here.

Spring Whale Watching Trip.

Planned before yesterday's Gray Whale-a-palooza, Ali and I headed out today for a whale watching cruise out of Moss Landing.

Although it's the low season for whales in the area, it's the high season for Orcas, so we took the risk - unfortunately, there were no Orcas, but with a couple of "friendly" humpbacks. a bunch of dolphins and a sea otter with a massive crab, it was a great day out.

When Life Gives You Empty Skies...

...look down.

Empty roads and nice warm weather lead to a great motorcycle ride.

Empty skies lead to no condor sightings, but looking down instead of up gave me a twice in 15 year experience.
