The Staycation!
Yes, I decided to join the growing American trend of vacationing while staying at home and decided to have a staycation. Of course, I timed it to coincide with the US round of the MotoGP world championship, which takes place 20 minutes away from said home.
Add some extra time off work before and after the MotoGP weekend, and you have the perfect recipe for a staycation.
I had the usual crew come and stay with me for MotoGP weekend, so there was a houseful, and as usual, it was a very busy, yet fun weekend.
With Lorenzo winning the race and me shooting it from the corkscrew, I got to see his post race stunt, which brought new meaning to the phrase "space alien".

After the weekend, most folks left, but not all. So we took advantage of this year's amazing whale season and managed to get out on to a whale watching boat (with all the local publicity about how many whales are around, spaces are hard to find - the whale watching boats are making hay while the sun shines, and who can blame them) - we got to see humpbacks and blues, and I got to see blue whales closer than ever before, as can be seen in the photo below.
We went looking for condors in the afternoon and found them too - photos of whales and condors are here.
This excellent staycation day continued into the evening when we hit green light after green light when going to grab dinner, so we bought lottery tickets just in case. However, our luck ran out and we didn't win anything.
Oh well, it was a great staycation - and now it's back to work.
