I Eat Fruit!

If you know me, you know that's an unusual situation. What makes it even more unusual? I got it from the front yard!

I'd noticed this fruit groing on a tree in the neighbor's yard that is hanging into mine and I never knew what it was - it just looked weird. Then I got into a conversation with this guy at work and he told me the story of how he finally figured out what the weird fruit tree was in his yard.

As he described the fruit, I realized it was the same as the fruit in my yard. A quick Google later and it was confirmed - a fruit popularly known as Pineapple Guava!

So, today I tried it - managed to find a couple of ripe ones just about to fall off the tree, got 'em and ate 'em - they were small, so my eating healthy fruit kick was minor.

Here we see the two pieces of fruit sitting on top of the laptop.

According to my friend at work and the web, the way to eat these is to cut them in half and then scoop out the insides and eat away.

The consistency was like a cross between a banana and a guava and the taste was tart but actually quite nice.

Spoon and knife included in images for scale purposes (it's a teaspoon) - you can even see my hands and the camera in the reflection of the teaspoon in this photo - I'll never make it as a photographer!
